Mobileway and Microsoft
Team Up to Deliver Secure Global Enterprise Connectivity
with Microsoft Mobile Information Server 2001
Mobileway Inc. today announced
that it is developing an online enterprise service that
enables corporations to provision wireless Web services
easily and securely. The hosted service will be based on
Microsoft Mobile Information Server (MMIS) 2001 Carrier
Edition, allowing users to receive notifications and access
to corporate data from any mobile device and from different
wireless carrier networks in over 50 countries worldwide.
Partners and customers already signed up for Mobileway's
service include Citibank, Siemens and Visa.
Mobileway's offering will allow
users to provision services via Microsoft Outlook Mobile
Manager from the Mobileway Web site and sign up online.
The 'Online Details Service', delivered via an extranet,
provides a secure access and management service to the corporate
IT manager. In addition to Web sign-on, the Mobileway service
offers easy interaction for services that include SMS, Instant
Messaging and other secure applications. Mobileway expects
future services to incorporate Microsoft .NET capabilities
that will allow further expansion of enterprises' corporate
messaging infrastructure.
"Mobileway's service goes a long way to provide easy,
secure access to corporate data from anywhere and on any
mobile device," said Jonas Persson, director of business
development, Microsoft. "In addition to mobile access
to PIM services such as email, calendar and tasks, MMIS
takes this service one step further by providing connectivity
with other Microsoft .NET services. This will enable enterprise
users to 'intelligently' draw from multiple online resources
in real-time and further extend their productivity."
"Mobileway's aim is to offer an inclusive service that
makes the corporate IT manager's job easy. Together with
Microsoft we can assist in providing connectivity for employees
to all wireless carriers, thereby removing the problem of
managing multiple mobile networks," said Bob Pike (VP
Europe, Mobileway).
