Mobileway, i4uuu And Channel V Partner In Revolutionary 2-way SMS Voting Campaign.
For The First Time In Taiwan, Fans Can Vote For The Most Popular New Artiste In The Chinese Music Charts Via 2-way SMS.

Mobileway, a leading enabler of data delivery for mobile applications, announced today its collaboration with i4uuu,an Internet and telecommunications application service provider, and Channel V, to bring about a 2-way voting campaign that enables fans to vote for the most popular new artiste through SMS.

Mobileway is the first SMS infrastructure provider of 2-way mobile SMS voting application in Taiwan.
For the campaign, Mobileway will provide the back-end voting mechanism to enable Channel V viewers to send and receive SMS messages and to channel the messages sent from mobile phone subscribers to i4uuu who will be sorting the final results.

The 2-way SMS works when the subscriber sends an MO (Mobile Originated) through Mobileway and i4uuu will send an MT (Mobile Terminated) through Mobileway back to the subscriber to inform them of the status.

"The partnership with Mobileway brings about tremendous synergy as we combine our technologies to enable Channel V and its viewers an additional avenue for 2-way communication.
We have chosen Mobileway because the company has direct connections with all the five mobile operators in Taiwan. This means that mobile subscribers residing in different networks are able to participate in this voting campaign," said Michael Lai, CEO, i4uuu Group.

Cyrille Even, General Manager and Vice President, Mobileway Asia Pacific, said, "The benefits of 2-way SMS is that the mobile subscriber can actually respond to the promotion sent to their phone instantly, and get a response on the result of the contest that they have just participated in. This is more sophisticated and dynamic than 1-way SMS.
Companies will find this form of SMS marketing more effective as a response is received from their target audience and databases can be captured for future promotion."

"The wireless marketing and entertainment arenas are the two key segments with significant growth potentials, given the increase in wireless transactions and opportunities for monetised services.
Additionally, we have established revenue sharing agreements on a country-by-country basis, which will boost the adoption of m-Commerce," he continued.

Taiwan boasts one of the world's highest mobile penetration rates at 90.5 per cent or 20 million subscribers, well ahead of Singapore and Hong Kong.
The mobile device has evolved to become an integral part of a mobile user's life.
Adopting SMS as its icon, today's youth has become a crucial segment of the mobile-user community.
SMS text is cited by the Yankee Group as the killer mobile application across Asia-Pacific.
As Internet-to-mobile texting increases, the GSM Association believes that 1 billion text messages will soon be sent every day.

Note To Editors:
The campaign has two sections that fans can vote - 'Top-ten Pop Chart' and 'Most Popular New Artiste'.
Fans can cast their votes through SMS, IVR (Interactive Voice Recording), website and snail mail.
Voting deadline for the campaign is 15 January 2002, and persons under the age of 18 will need to seek parental consent.
