Mobileway recruits ex-Microsoft
director of international product development in mobile
and collaboration group.
Bob Pike moves from Microsoft, where he was director of
international product development in the mobile and collaboration
business group, to join Mobileway, the leading global provider
of wireless access and content distribution. Bob Pike
has been appointed to the Mobileway board as vice president
of EMEA and banking strategies.
In this new role, Bob Pike is responsible for sales and
marketing in EMEA and global banking initiatives such as
mobile payments.
Bob Pike has over 20 years experience in the IT and banking
industries. At Microsoft he founded the mobile and
collaboration business group and was responsible for development
of new wireless markets and global investment strategy.
He was the European founding member of VXtreme (video on
the internet), which was acquired by Microsoft in 1997.
VXtreme is now installed in Microsoft Windows media player.
Prior to this he spent several years at Citibank NA as VP
of European cash management (1990-1993).
Bob Pike said: "After founding VXtreme and four successful
years at Microsoft I wanted the challenge of working for
a new start up business again. My objective is to
make Mobileway the market leader in SMS aggregation.
I also want to create new value added services for 2.5 and
3G networks and devices coming on to the market, so that
we can use new services both as a consumers and professionals.
Mobileway provides an important link between the carrier
and the marketplace."
Christian Baumhauer, chief operating officer at Mobileway
said: "Bob's combination of IT, banking and mobile industry
experience will help us to drive up sales and deployment
in the EMEA region and develop mobile payments solutions,
which will be critical to our success in the future."
Bob Pike's previous roles include: head of the banking and
telecom sales at Informix (1993-1996), head of banking and
telecom sales at Hitachi (1987-1990) and several positions
at AES Data Corp and Computer Machinery Company.
