Anti-Drugs Charity, Proyecto Hombre, Stages a Celebrity Football Match to Raise Money for Drugs Rehabilitation Programmes

Mobileway, the leading global provider of mobile services, revealed today its work with Proyecto Hombre, a Spanish charity devoted to the prevention of Drugs. For the 12th year Proyecto Hombre staged its ‘Drogas No’ charity football match to raise both funds and awareness for its continued work to rehabilitate and reintegrate drug addicts back into society. The match played in Madrid’s Vicente Calderon stadium on 12 November featured celebrity guest stars and footballing heroes from past and present.
Each year Proyecto Hombre offers fans the chance to actually take part in the match and play with their football idols for a few minutes. This year for the first time fans were able to apply for this privilege using their mobile phone. Simply by texting the words ‘Drogas No’ in an SMS to 7997 fans mobile numbers were entered into the winning draw, each entry costs the user 0,9 Euros. The concept, devised by value-added service provider MoviDream, works using Mobileway’s Premium SMS delivery platform connecting directly to the Spanish Mobile Network Operators, Vodafone, Amena and Movistar. All parties involved kindly agreed to donate any revenues made from this project to the Proyecto Hombre Association.

The match was aired on TVE1 channel, the leading Spanish TV channel, at 22:00 hours on Wednesday 12 November 2003.
