THE GLOBAL LEADER IN MOBILE CONTENT, ENTERTAINMENT & MARKETING SOLUTIONS CELEBRATES THE SUCCESSES OF THE PAST YEAR AT THE 2004 CONGRESS
Stand: B1, Hall 1 - The BIBO Yacht
23 February 2004 3GSM Congress, Cannes
In the four years since Mobileway’s first GSM World Congress the company has grown to become the absolute leader in providing mobile content, marketing and entertainment solutions for companies across the globe. Mobileway gathers in Cannes to celebrate yet another successful 12 months during which the company has more than doubled its revenues and signed up more of the world’s leading brands to its 450-strong customer portfolio.
Over the past year, the company has continued to expand its global data delivery network and now enjoys a reach to more than 900 million mobile users via 150 direct connections into Mobile Networks across Asia Pacific, the Americas and Europe.
In line with the continued growth in mobile marketing and entertainment services and in response to increased demand from its customers, Mobileway has supplemented this global reach over the past two years with the tools and services to provide content owners with fully managed end-to-end solutions. A further injection of capital through strategic funding last summer has enabled Mobileway to realign its global organization into three core competencies to further strengthen this ability to provide content owners and media companies with complete mobile offers to reach their target markets anywhere in the world; these three are: Mobile marketing, mobile entertainment and global network services. During this year’s 3GSM congress at Cannes, Mobileway will be giving visitors a snapshot of its capability:
Global Network Services
Mobileway continues to lead the field in interconnect services for mobile operators. The company signed an agreement this week to provide international SMS interconnect services for Thai operator, Hutchison CAT Wireless MultiMedia, which increases Mobileway’s SMS interconnect portfolio to beyond 80 operator clients. For MMS interconnect, Mobileway was the FIRST third party to offer MMS interconnectivity to mobile network operators, with the first live project launched in July 2003 with Globe Telecom in the Philippines. Today Mobileway has around 60 MMS interconnect agreements spanning 20 countries.
Mobileway also reveals the latest advancements to its delivery network: the recent introduction of a SPAM filter, Conversion and IMEI Dynamic Retrieval Platform.
Mobile Entertainment
Mobileway kicks off this week by presenting a case study to the congress delegates alongside one of its entertainment clients, Sony Pictures Digital. Together Charles Damen, Director of Media & Entertainment for Mobileway UK Ltd, and Ben Grass, Director of Internet & Wireless, Sony Pictures Digital, present the following topic, “Working with operators and content owners to launch and support new entertainment and marketing services”. During this session they will discuss the joint project launched in June 2003 to build and deploy a full mobile content and services package to support the launch of the movie, Charlies Angels: Full Throttle across nine countries.
Mobile Video
Mobileway also announced the launch at 3GSM of a global end-to-end mobile video service resulting from a strategic partnership with the leading mobile video specialist, Oplayo. The service offering provides brand and content owners with a means to reach not only High-tier Symbian Smart phone owners, but also existing Java™ handset owners across the globe with video content. Mobileway has fully integrated Oplayo’s video technology into its application platform to offer a complete end-to-end service, including: encoding and conversion of video files; hosting of content; branding the player; management of video streaming and downloads; play list creation, management and updates; and delivery of the video player and billing via premium SMS.
This partnership will be put into action during the 3GSM World Congress itself, the companies are working with TelecomTV to produce TelecomTV2Go. This gives 3GSM Congress attendees the ability to view interviews with the leading executives from the Wireless and Content Industries filmed during the show via their mobile handsets. For more details see www.telecomtv.com.
Mobile Marketing
During the congress, Mobileway will be demonstrating the latest addition to its range of fun and entertaining applications to offer companies looking to market and entertain users across the globe. Through a partnership with VRTVStudios, Mobileway can now offer multi-media messaging solutions based upon patented Text-to-Broadcast™ technology. Users can take a picture with their camera phone or select an image from a handpicked gallery of famous faces and send it in an MMS message with some accompanying text. On opening the message it appears to the recipient that the image is actually speaking the text, creating the illusion of a verbal message from a virtual character.
Brands can also boost their marketing campaigns by creating their own virtual character or using the company mascot to deliver spoken messages to their consumers via MMS messaging or even as video clips.
Selected as official SMS Partner for the Congress
Mobileway has been working with the Informa Telecoms Group over the past couple of years to build an SMS-based solution to support a number of telecommunication conferences. The delegates at the 2004 3GSM World Congress have the opportunity to send in their opinions on a number of topical questions and also text their comments and questions directly to the session chairman via SMS. Also at this year’s inaugural closing ceremony Mobileway will be powering the live audience vote to decide who deserves the accolade of Best in Show.
On top of all this, Mobileway will also be hosting a cocktail party on Tuesday 24 February from 1930 hours aboard the Bibo yacht moored in Cannes Harbour.
